Admissions Criteria

  • Pupils will be aged between 5 and 16 years.
  • All pupils will have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
  • All pupils will have Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) needs listed as an area of need.
  • Pupils may have additional learning difficulties and/or low attainment that are associated with their SEMH needs.
  • Pupils may have other areas of need listed on their EHCP, such as Communication Interaction, Cognition and Learning, Sensory and/or Physical Needs, however these are usually secondary to their SEMH needs.
  • Pupils may be admitted based on their need for therapeutic support.

Admissions Process

All pupils admitted to Fieldstone School will have been initially referred by their Local Authority (LA). If, after reviewing the information provided at consultation, the school believes that the pupil meets the admission criteria and would be able to meet the young persons needs the LA is informed. The referring LA then makes the decision as to whether a student will be placed at Fieldstone. If the LA agree to place the student with us, Fieldstone and parents/carers are notified by the LA.

Once notified that a student will be being placed with us, arrangements will be made by our SEND caseworker for the parents/carers and the student to visit the school if this has not already occurred. This initial visit occurs after students have gone home and will include a tour of the school, an introduction to key staff and an opportunity to ask any questions.

Following this visit a transition plan is created by the SENCO at Fieldstone in collaboration with the students previous setting and parents/carers. This ensures a successful start for students at our school.

If you would like a tour of our school or to understand more about our admissions process, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
