Aims, Ethos & Learning Dispositions

Our Aims

We are committed to transforming the life chances of our students and their families, thus benefiting the wider community.

Our mission is to ensure we help every young person we work with achieve their full potential, both academically and personally.

We want our students to engage with, and stay in, education; motivating and inspiring them to become confident individuals, successful learners and thoughtful citizens.

Our role is to ensure students have the emotional stability and richness to grow; and where needed. once ready, a supportive therapeutic experience with an accessible curriculum and pathway to success in the future – be that academic or vocational.

Our Ethos

At Fieldstone School we aim to provide a small class-based learning environment where every student is seen, heard and truly matters.

Our curriculum enables students to actively engage in authentic, real world and personally meaningful learning; with professionals working together to ensure a trauma informed holistic approach – supporting all to be the best that they can be. Enabling:

To help our students achieve our learning aims we reinforce our school learning principles annually.

These are:

To realise this, we focus on our key dispositions.

Our Learning Dispositions

Our youngest classes will always start by concentrating on:

Each key disposition is symbolised by a woodland animal, to help our youngest children to understand the abstract concept with a story about each animal’s observed natural character.

As students progress, they move on to focus on being:

As we have six key dispositions, there is always a focus on one per half-term.
